Top Chef Winner Stephanie Izard Heats Up Club Med Columbus Isle Food and Wine Festival

Izard to Unveil Signature Club Med Recipe, Offer Cooking Demonstration, Lead Private Cooking Class and Prepare Meal for Guests Miami

(Jan. 28, 2009) – Club Med Columbus Isle, Bahamas will welcome Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard as a guest chef at its Food and Wine Festival February 28 – March 7. Event attendees will have several opportunities to indulge in Chef Izard’s culinary creations. Amateur chefs can learn to prepare her signature Club Med recipe during a cooking demonstration; guests can savor her fare during a four-course dinner prepared with other esteemed chefs and one lucky contest winner will join Chef Izard for a private cooking lesson.

“We welcome such a renowned chef at our Food and Wine Festival,” remarked Sabina Sicuso, vice president of marketing for Club Med. “This represents a fabulous opportunity for our guests and our chefs to experience Stephanie Izard’s unique dishes first hand and learn from her in an intimate environment.”

As an aperitif, Chef Izard will unveil her new signature recipe, a mango marcona gazpacho, to attendees early on in the festival. On Thursday, March 5, Chef Izard will prepare the main course and dinner for more than 50 guests. The menu includes an Atlantic cod and coconut braised pork belly entrée with spiced pineapple and basil. For dessert, a unique Thai chili chocolate panna cotta served with fresh passion fruit and frozen nougat will tempt guests’ taste buds.

Michelle Bernstein of the Food Network and guest judge for Iron Chef will also appear among the talented chefs at Columbus Isle. Previous Club Med Food and Wine festivals featured two-time James Beard Award winner, Wolfgang Birk, guest judge for Top Chef, Maria Frumkin, Five Star Diamond Award winner, Cindy Hutson and James McDevitt, a Food and Wine Magazine Best New Chef.

Club Med’s Food and Wine Festivals highlight the brand’s exceptional culinary offerings and are included in the all-inclusive package price. Rates for Columbus Isles’ festival start at $1,610 per person for a seven-night stay, based on double occupancy. In addition to the variety of land and water activities offered by Club Med, guests will experience all-star cooking demonstrations, sommelier and mixology presentations, and a nightly, unique four-course dinner during the event.

Club Med’s next Food and Wine Festival will take place May 2-9 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. George Duran of the Food Network and Eric Villegas of A Fork in the Road will join 13 other leading chefs for week of decadent culinary experiences.
